Speculations about the administration’s relationship with Russia continue to dog the White House, even after former National Security Adviser Mike Flynn’s resignation following the revelation of his calls with the Russian ambassador. Attorney General Jeff Sessions has recused himself from ongoing and future investigations into Russian interference with the U.S. election. It was revealed that Sessions had met twice with the Russian ambassador during the course of the presidential campaign, meetings which he did not disclose under oath during his confirmation hearings before the Senate.
As Russia continues to dominate the news cycle, former correspondent David Satter cautions speculation on Russian motives, due to what he describes as the country’s complexity and constant misdirection. Satter joins Soledad O’Brien to discuss Russia’s continual efforts to undermine confidence in the US government and his unique distinction as the only U.S. journalist to be kicked out of Russia since the Cold War.
