Teen driver’s ed training in some states is getting additional criteria – training on what to do when a police officer pulls you over (with a focus on minority drivers.) After a series of police-related shootings, states such as Virginia, Illinois, North Carolina and Louisiana have all enacted the legislation to teach students how to handle a traffic stops. Texas, Mississippi and Rhode Island have all introduced similar bills. Yet, critics say the law places too much responsibility on young drivers and not enough on the trained officers.
