Nothing Rosa Parks did was accidental, yet she’s been relegated to a single day in America’s collective memory. A new documentary, The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks, executive produced by Soledad O’Brien, explores the racism and dismissive attitudes the civil rights icon experienced after refusing to give her bus seat up to a white man. Soledad interviews the documentary’s co-directors, Yoruba Richen and Johanna Hamilton, and Jeanne Theoharis, the book’s author and a distinguished professor of political science at Brooklyn College.
