Black students continue to be disciplined more frequently and more harshly than white students, a recent study from the Government Accountability Office finds. Grade school suspensions and expulsions can negatively shape students for the rest of their lives, affecting their academic performance as well as social and emotional development. Is there a better way to discipline students? Soledad O’Brien sits down with Cami Anderson, founder of the Discipline Revolution Project and former Superintendent of Newark public schools, who explains what schools, teachers and parents need to do to make the students accountable for their own behavior.
