Could A City’s Form of Reparations Become a Model for the Nation

Evanston, Illinois is planning to pay some Black residents for the harm it caused by discriminatory housing policies. The program offers up to $25,000 for a down payment on a house or to make home repairs. Critics say this form of reparations is unnecessary while others say it’s not enough. Study after study have shown where you live can determine the rest of your life. Special Correspondent Joie Chen reports from her childhood home in Evanston.
