California is the first state in the country to ban racial discrimination based on a person’s hair. It’s called the Crown Act, and it’s meant to protect mainly people of color, who are often banned from wearing their in styles like afros, braids, cornrows, and locs. New York City is also cracking down on this discrimination and we speak from women who say they’ve been targeted for their natural hair styles.
