The nation is now entering it’s longest government shutdown as Democrats and the president continue to spar over funding for a border wall. The president has promised to crack down on illegal immigration and has taken several steps to curb legal immigration. But America’s history, both old and recent, is filled with stories of immigrants. A new book, Journeys: An American Story, has compiled some of those stories. Soledad O’Brien sits down with co-authors businessman Andrew Tisch and Mary Skafidas to discuss why they say immigration should be an area of bipartisan support, not tension.
